1 Age Recommendations
Printomatic 3D Pens are recommended for ages 8 and up. Children between 8–12 should always be supervised by an adult while using the pen. This is a creative tool, not a toy, and should be treated with the same care as a hot-glue gun or soldering iron.
2 Burn Hazard Awareness
- The metal nozzle and freshly extruded filament are hot and can cause burns on contact.
- Never touch the tip of the pen, even briefly, while it is powered on or cooling down.
- Allow at least 2–3 minutes for the nozzle to cool after switching the pen off before storing or handling it.
3 Adult Supervision
An adult should always be present when a child is using the pen, especially during the loading, heating, and initial drawing stages. Set clear rules with children before use: hold the pen like a pencil, keep the tip pointed away from skin, hair, and clothing, and never touch the metal nozzle.
4 Safe Work Environment
- Use the pen on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface such as a silicone mat or table protector.
- Keep the workspace clear of paper, fabric, and other flammable materials near the tip.
- Work in a well-ventilated room, and avoid using the pen near curtains, bedding, or other children playing nearby.
5 Handling the Pen Safely
Always attach the included finger cap before use, especially for younger creators. Hold the pen firmly but gently, and never point the tip toward yourself or another person. If the pen is not in use for more than a minute or two, power it off or place it in a stand rather than laying it down on the work surface.
6 Filament & Ventilation
PLA filament is a plant-based plastic and produces minimal odor, but good airflow is still recommended, particularly during longer creative sessions. If anyone in the room is sensitive to smells or has respiratory concerns, use the pen in an open or ventilated space.
7 Storage & Charging
- Allow the pen to cool fully before placing it back in its box or case.
- Charge only with the included USB cable or a compatible 5V charger.
- Store filament and the pen out of reach of very young children when not in active use.
- Never leave the pen charging unattended overnight.
8 If a Burn Occurs
If skin contact with the hot nozzle or filament happens:
- Immediately cool the affected area under lukewarm to cool running water for several minutes.
- Do not apply ice, butter, or ointments directly to the burn.
- For anything beyond a minor, small redness, or if you're unsure of severity, seek medical attention promptly.
